Meet Our Tutors

Hi, I’m Trisha Harmon. Since I was a little, I have always wanted to be a teacher.  I love learning and love children. My education included Montessori school, public school and homeschool. After high school, I taught math and science at a private school for two years and graduated from Utah State University in Speech Communications. 

I have homeschooled my own children for 14 years and taken an active role in teaching others in various co-ops and commonwealths. Recently I enjoyed serving on the board of administration at Inspired Minds Academy commonwealth. Over the years  I have mentored students and parents of all ages. I look forward to helping tutor at Lark Rise Hall.

Hello! My name is Shelly Christensen and I am thrilled to be able to tutor at Lark Rise Hall this year. I am a mom of seven children and I have eight grandchildren! I love history, the ocean, horseback riding, reading, and flowers. My favorite sport team is the Kansas City Jayhawk basketball team, you might learn a little about college basketball this year! The last 25 years I have worked with children in helping with academics, coaching personal growth, athletics, and other areas.

My name is Ethan Hemingway! I'm approaching my mid 20s and a heads up, I am Deaf! I love teaching ASL and traditional woodcarving! I'm a nerd at heart and love to have fun! Hope to meet you all soon! -Mr. Hemingway!

Hi, I’m Judy Sorenson. I’m excited to be tutoring at Lark Rise Hall again this year! I have always loved learning and have a passion for teaching. I have been teaching my own children for 6 years and have participated in teaching other children in co-op settings for the last 4 years. I have a Bachelor’s degree from BYU and I love gardening, art, graphic design, and all things related to education. I am excited to be part of a program to support and benefit the homeschool community through tutoring!

Hi, I’m Olivia Bannink! I’m from Minnesota attending my third year at Brigham Young University majoring in Early Childhood Education. I love working with children and have spent my summers in Minnesota as a camp counselor and working at a local preschool. I have also been an assistant art teacher and love creating art on my own. Some other hobbies I enjoy are playing soccer, reading, boating, and taking my dog for walks. I am so excited to tutor this year!

Hi, I’m Ainsley Darrington! I am currently working as a hairstylist this fall along with tutoring as I prepare to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints next spring/summer. I love being around kids and always have. I have spent years babysitting and have 3 younger siblings. I have also helped in classes at the homeschool coop my family attends. Some of my favorite things to do are read, crafts, and doing my nails. I also love doing things with my siblings like reading Harry Potter. I am so excited to be a tutor this year!

My name is Lillian Bannink and I am from Woodbury, Minnesota. I am currently a freshman at Brigham Young University and am studying psychology. I enjoy reading, writing, and being around nature! 

Hello, my name is Rachel Bentley, and I'm excited to tutor this year at Lark Rise Hall! I am beginning my senior year at Utah Valley University, studying Family Science and Psychology. I love and am passionate about education, and I love the systems and policies that they have here. Throughout my educational career, I have unofficially tutored those around me, and I'm super thrilled to get the chance to do it professionally, because I hope to be a teacher one day! In my free time, I love to read, cook and bake, and I LOVE to watch movies. I have experience teaching and working with children, and I can't wait for this year to start!

Hi! I’m Alexa Stephens. I am a student at Brigham Young University majoring in Human Development, with a minor in Psychology. I have experience working with kids with their mental, emotional, and social needs, and I have a strong desire to help children succeed. Outside of school, I love being outside, painting, listening to music, and gardening. I am so excited to be a tutor this year!

Hi I’m Sydney Landini! I’m from a small town in Nevada. I’m currently attending BYU studying nutritional science. I love doing anything creative or outdoors! I’m excited to be working with your children this year!

My name is Kimberlee Galaxyy. I have been working with children for over 10 years, and I am so excited to be in the environment Lark Rise Hall is creating! I have worked with students in a variety of contexts, but my favorite is when I get to invest in the personal relationship and give each student individualized attention. I am a big believer in praising focus and effort, rather than flawlessness. I really admire homeschoolers— I’m excited to meet you and your child(ren).

In my free time, I enjoy taking my dog Pippa to water we can play in! I also have been enjoying studying music, math, and Spanish on Duolingo.

Hi, I’m Harper Jones! I am from Indiana and am in my second year as a biology major at Brigham Young University. I am passionate about education and am currently planning to receive my MPH and DDS degrees. I love working with children and have lots of experience babysitting, nannying, and working as a teacher’s assistant for my local children’s show choir. In my free time, I enjoy crafting, reading, and going out with my friends. I am so excited to meet and work with your children!

Hello! My name is Benton Henderson, and I am thrilled to join the Lark Rise Hall tutors this year. I am a BYU senior studying statistics with a business minor. From 2021 to 2023, I served a Spanish-speaking mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in El Salvador (and gained a love for their pupusas). After returning, I spent the last two summers working as an FSY counselor. Outside of academics, one of my biggest passions is music; I play a variety of instruments including the guitar, piano, violin, and even the banjo. I also love staying active by golfing, hiking, and doing ballroom dance. Having been homeschooled from ages 11 to 13, I deeply appreciated programs like Lark Rise Hall. I can't wait to give back to this wonderful community and help spark a love of learning in my students.

Hi my name is Rebekah Bobowski! I’m from South Jordan, Utah. I am Junior at Brigham Young University majoring in Psychology. I love hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and playing sports. I love spending time with family and serving those around me.

Hi, all! My name is Emmaline and I am from Ithaca, NY. I am currently studying comparative literature at Brigham Young University, so if you ever want to talk about books or languages, I’m your girl! After finishing university I will be pursuing a career in English education. When I am not studying or working, I love watching movies, reading, crocheting, and swing dancing. Last of all, I am thrilled to be tutoring at Lark Rise Hall!
